

Jewell Ozbirn Pardue Thornton, 90, died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at her home in Booneville. She was born August 24, 1920, the daughter of Floyd and Mattie Belle Ozbirn. She was a member of Booneville Church of Christ. She was a ward secretary for Booneville Hospital and later for Baptist Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, gardening, and traveling with her husband, J.A.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the Booneville Church of Christ with Minister Greg Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, J.A. Thornton; one daughter, Anne Pardue Langford of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, Barry (Alice) Pardue, Sr. of Booneville; two stepdaughters, Jeanita (Jim) Estes of Booneville and Joyce (Ralph) Gilmore; one sister, Edna Caver of Memphis; two brothers, Aubrey Ozbirn of Rienzi and Kenneth (Hazel) Hughes of Columbus; two grandchildren, Christopher Ellenberger and Barry Pardue, Jr. and a host of stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James C. Pardue; one son, Jimmy Pardue; her parents; one sister, Elsie Ozbirn; three brothers, Alton Ozbirn, Allen Ozbirn, and Gyther Ozbirn; and one grandson, Sean Ellenberger.
Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
