

Laura May Mathis, 93, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. She was born November 12, 1917, to Murdock and Sally May McGee Tucker. She was a faithful member of Wheeler United Methodist Church for 52 years and a member of First United Methodist Church in Booneville for 16 years. She taught Sunday School for 52 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved to read.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 15, 2011, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Hankins officiating and the eulogy will be delivered by Steve Greenhaw. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn (Joe) Justice of Loganville, GA; one sister, Mary Agnes Greenhaw of Booneville; two grandchildren, Jill (Dr. Blake) Pruitt and Jason (Leigh) Justice ; three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah and David; one niece, Carolyn (James Stanley) Long; three nephews, Steve (Cynthia) Greenhaw, Dr. David (Beverly) Greenhaw and John (Sandra) Tucker; and nine great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mathis.
Pallbearers are Dr. Blake Pruitt, Jason Justice, Blake Greenhaw, Bart Greenhaw, Dr. Brad Greenhaw and Cliff Long.
Honorary pallbearers are Drew Love, Rodney Crouch, Chad Smith, Mike Cristo, Jay Cothren, Bobby Ryan, Mike Anderson and Lonnie Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Booneville or the Wheeler United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
