All my love and prayer's go out to Diane and the family.  Willie was an icon in Booneville and beyond.  Every time I went to eat, or saw Willie out town, he always had a Hi Bill, good to see you. I miss getting those HI's .  Rest In Peace  Willie!

My deepest sympathy to you, Dianne.  I was so saddened to hear of his passing.  He was  truly a kind and gentle man.   I hope that wonderful memories of him will sustain you and give you peace in the days ahead.  

I met Willy when I was around 17 in 2008. My boyfriend at the time (now husband) always went there on his college lunches. He thought a lot of Willy, and as soon as I set foot into his slugburger shop, I understood why. 

His smile could melt the entire antarctic. He was so warm and kind. He just had a way about him. Anything you talked to him about, it seemed he could really understand what you were going through. A true empath if there ever was one.

As a young person, I thought he was just the coolest older person on the planet. Here was a man doing what he loved for a living, carrying on a family tradition, growing the hottest ghost peppers in the state and just chatting with folks who really loved his burgers. 

He was beloved by my grandpa, Roger Mcvey, who passed away last year. Anytime I told my grandpa that I had eaten at Weeks, he’d beam with pride that his granddaughter had such good taste! 

I loved seeing the photos he’d share on Facebook, imagining a time that made men like Willy and like my Grandpa. Eventually my schedule stopped lining up with the times Willy’s shop was open, but I could always keep up with his interesting shared photos on Facebook. 

I’m sure to Willy I was just another person in a sea of customers, but he truly touched my heart. His warmth and spirit stuck with me since the first time I plopped down on one of the stools in his shop, and I know that he will be so greatly missed by so, so many. 

Willie Weeks was a big part of my growing up,cause me and my older brother (Myron Estes) both worked for Willie and Dianne for a good while. Willie taught me so much that I couldn't even begin to start. I can remember every morning at 5 am I would go in there and start getting everything prepared to help Willie get the day started I met some of the greatest people that I know in there and me and him would have talks when it was just us in there. He is the one that gave me my first job working with the public and I am grateful for that. We would always jam out to classic rock and I still do today. Now Willie is jamming with all the greats. I love you Willie and like me him always said to each other ( I will see you on the flipside).

I think when I heard Willie had passed away, I  felt like someone stole a piece of my childhood. I can remember going into the cafe on many Saturdays for a burger as we drove around town running errands. One of my favorite memories of my grandmother was eating Week burgers at the West Side Park one Saturday as I helped her shop.   When I moved from Booneville in 1998, Week's cafe was always on my to-do list. I was excited to introduce my wife to a slug burger--her Yankee soul could not wrap her head around a "slug" burger, and I had to give her a brief history of what that entailed.  Thank you, Diane and Willie, for the sweet memories. Willie's family is in my prayers.  Much love from Springfield, Mo. 

Willie Weeks will be missed by many, many people.  My deepest sympathy goes to his beloved wife, Dianne, who he loved deeply and enjoyed working with at their burger shop.  His family and customers will miss him deeply.  Always cheerful and thoughtful.
When I first met Willie at college he was a  music major.  He was part of a group of friends of mine and we all shared many laughs at Coleman's BBQ.   My husband was in Thailand. 
Now , in Heaven out in the  Cosmos,  hopefully he is enjoying taking pictures of the Dark Side of the Moon and the little blue dot we call Earth.




Diane, lived next door to Willie on Proper Street.   He and Steve Perry were my best friends.   We climbed trees and played cowboys and Indians.  I saw him last year when I went back home.   He made the best slugburger.  I have so many memories of him.   I loved him so much. 

Willie and I choose the same day to by groceries!  I would see him almost weekly at Kroger in Corinth for years!  This was when I first started at MRHC!  After a long work day, it was so wonderful to see his smile and talk about the past and present with him!  He was always so nice at BHS!  He talked with me a lot, since we had several classes together and always seem concerned about others!  He told me I was stupid for something I had done but was with concern!!  You two were meant for each other!  And know you will miss him a lot !!  Please call me any time you need to talk!!  I know about this since I lost Tony!!  Love and praying for you!!  

I knew Willie from Walmart in Booneville he would come in every day very nice man I realized he went to school with my sisters I he was always so happy he will be missed we would always have a lot of good conversations when he was checking out rest in peace with your spirit in the sky

Willie and Diane were a great part of my childhood memories then a part of my children’s . Willie and his cafe will always hold a special place and there could never be another burger that could top his. Forever missed by many. Love always,

         Always loved you and Willy. First time I met Willie is when I was  working at Colman’s Bar-B-Q and he came in and order a Hambuger rare.. I had just started working and  I turned around and quietly ask my co-worker what did he mean rare. She said just put it on the grill wait a second and then turn it over and put it on the bun. Willie was a one of a kind and I will never forget y’all. My little Chinese girl is now 18 and Graduating from High School.

The world has lost one of its greatest. A true gentleman, kind heart and gentle spirit. every time Cory and Zac come to town they say they have to go check on Willie. I'll miss our in-depth studies of the Stones and the Beatles.

I have so many wonderful memories of growing up with Willie.  Starting from when he moved to Booneville, we had many fun times from birthday parties as kids and later on in high school and beyond.  I always enjoyed our conversations and hearing his interesting take on many subjects.  I will always remember his kind spirit and friendship with great fondness.

We are so sorry for the loss of Willie. He was one- of- a -kind and he and his "Weeks Burgers" will be missed. When I was young my family would come for a visit and my mom would send me to get 50 burgers at a time (10 cents each) from his dad and mom. I took my kids and grandkids to get a burger and a visit with Willie. It became a tradition for us. Only good memories of a really special and unique guy. 

The Great Slugburger Slinger has died.   

Dad took me to Weeks cafe when I was very young, I was completely hooked. I usually had a cheeseburger with mayo only.  I eventually, with Grandad’s  coercion, I started getting them dressed.  He’d have an old salt shaker full of some dried peppers and spices that I’d shake on there.  All through the years, it would amaze me how all those burgers would end up after he got the perfect amount with his spatula, circled it, cut out a little extra, gave it a couple good whacks and put it in the oil.  

He was a man that you could talk to about anything, as long as it wasn’t 11 on a Saturday.  I’ve had deep conversations with him from everything from music to politics to legalization of marijuana.  I’ve been in that cafe at my absolute worst, and he would listen to me. 

  Dad used to clean soybeans and after a dusty hot morning, there was NOTHING like a slug, a coke and a bag of chips to make it all worth it.   Willie used to go to bed at 7, wake up at 3 and head to town to get started for the day.   Closed Wednesday, that was his grocery and errand day.   He loved photography, had a degree in it.  He could have been so many things, but he chose to take up the family business.  

There were a few regulars throughout the years, I’m proud to say that I was one of them.   There is a drumstick I gave him 15 years ago in the cafe right now.  I will definitely miss “Well hey Dub”

The original slug burger, hot slaw dogs and fried breakfast.  Mmmmmm

Rest In Peace, William Weeks.  You have no idea what you meant to me and everyone you came in contact with.

Several members of the Class of ‘68 have asked me to leave a message for you on behalf of our class.  We all loved Willie.  He was smart, amazingly talented and a person who never met a stranger.  Whenever you were around him, you knew he was listening to what you were saying, you knew that he cared about what you were saying, you knew that your words were safe with him and you walked away feeling the warmth of his friendship.
     Our entire class knew how much he loved you.  You could see it in his face when he looked at you and hear it in his voice when he spoke about you.  You were both fortunate to have known that kind of love.
     Willie was kind, compassionate, a poet, a talented musician and a gifted photographer.  He cared about people.  He  was loved by everyone in our class and we all want you to know that we will be praying for you in the weeks ahead.

My heart is hurting over the loss of my dear friend. I have so many happy memories of growing up at church and school with Willie. I loved him dearly... he was such a kind and compassionate man. Willie was the real deal! He left such a legacy of which you must be proud.

1/2 of a Real True Love Couple is now gone. Will greatly be missed. Remember my mom occasionally  treating us to burgers from WEEK’S. I would stand by the counter in amazement of how he and Diane worked together. Then as I got older and started working running in to grab lunch. It was like Norm in Cheers, you walk in you were known. Even after getting married and moving away for awhile, I could be in town and see Willie, he hadn’t forgotten  who I was. Can still taste hot ham and cheese, slaw dog and cheeseburgers. RIP Willie. 

Willie was one of the good guys.He always spoke when I seen him.He will be missed by many.

   I'm sorry for your loss. I sold furniture at Heilig Meyers when its was in Booneville in the mid 80s. You and Willie always bought from me. I guess I was sorta a regular at the cafe, too. Not sure if you & Willie had a secret recipe but the hamburgers were always quite tasty. Willie was a wonderful, caring guy. I want to leave you with this - look to the hills which cometh your help. He WILL see you through this. I love you, God bless you and take care of yourself.
