

Everett “Bo” Wayne Simmons, 76 of Columbia passed away Saturday, December 19 2020 at University Hospital. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 2, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. In keeping with the guidelines put forth by the Boone County Health Director, all guests are required to wear a mask, to maintain social distancing (six feet apart), cough into your sleeve, and wash/sanitize your hands often. Following the service, a prayer and burial will take place in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
Bo was born on June 23, 1944 in Portsman, Virginia the son of Charles Simmons and Lily Earlene (O’Bryan) Simmons. Bo grew up in Boonville surrounded by family and friends. Eventually, Bo moved to Columbia, where he was supported by Woodhaven from 2006 on.
Bo was able to live a very full and impactful life. He especially enjoyed old western movies and going fishing. He had a sense of humor and loved to joke with others. He was always ready to go; he enjoyed activities with friends and volunteers like going shopping, to the movies, for a car ride/enjoying nature, to church services, playing Yahtzee!, dancing, and numerous other activities/events. He was also a big sports fan. Bo loved to cheer on Mizzou, the Cardinals, and the Chiefs. He enjoyed celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas.
Bo is survived by various nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is also deeply missed by his numerous support staff and friends who consider him like family.
In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Kay (Simmons) Murdock and one brother. Dorsey “Skipper” Simmons.
