Charles M. Grace, born to Joseph P. and Janet MacDonald Grace of Manhasset, New York. At 86 years of age, Charles Grace passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends after a life full of humor and delight. Charles Grace attended Columbia University where he earned his MBA. While in New York he met the love of his life, Margaret Vanderpool Grace, whom he married and with whom he had five children, including Lisa Grace. He is survived by his daughter Maureen and three sons, Charles Jr., James and Joseph. He had three daughter in laws: Joanna, Elizabeth Kelley-Grace, and Gloria and four, much loved grandchildren: Catherine, Charles III, Patrick, and Christopher.
He was passionate about charity, education, and the betterment of society. He co-founded (with Col. James Gray) The International Fund for Monuments (now, The World Monuments Fund). He also co-founded (with George Wagner) The California League of Conservation Voters which successfully championed a ban to protect the California coast from offshore drilling. He will be missed and remembered forever.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victories, 27 Isabella Street, Boston, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:30AM.
