

Joan E. (Turner) Goodwin, age 87 entered into rest on June 28th, after a brief illness. Born on May 3, 1930, in Toronto, Canada, to James and Edith (Ball) Turner. Predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years George. Predeceased by brothers Albert and James. Survived by daughter Ingrid and her husband Kevin Mahoney of Medford, MA, son George and his wife Amanda of Hollis, NH, and grandchildren, Blake, Kevin, Madison, Kylee, Turner and Isaiah.
In 1955 Joan met her husband George in Toronto, Canada and followed him to Georgia where they were married in 1956. During the first 10 years of their marriage they lived in Europe residing for short periods in countries including Germany, France, Greece, Spain, Italy and Holland. It was in Holland where Joan gave birth to her daughter Ingrid. She returned home to the States and welcomed her son George 15 months later. For 25 years she and her late husband raised their family in Somerville. After losing her beloved husband George in 1991, Joan obtained her driver's license and moved to Cypress Lakes in Lakeland, FL to start the next chapter of her life. She immediately fell in love with the Florida lifestyle and made many wonderful friends. She enjoyed cruising and vacationing in Las Vegas and Aruba. She took up golf and joined a bowling league. She especially enjoyed the pool, the beach and the sun and was never without a tan. In 2010, Joan returned to the Boston area to be closer to her children and grandchildren and lived in Malden for the last 7 years.
