Peter J. Baldassari, 81, of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025 at his home. Born on January 16, 1944, to the late Domenic and Mary. He was the devoted husband to the late Frances “Frannie” (Barbiero) Baldassari and dedicated father of Julie Baldassari. He was the brother of Joan, Donna, Lucille, Joanne, Domenic, Victor, Stacey, and Gina, and the late Junior, Victor, Bobby, and Dineen. Chosen as Loving Godfather to Marco Passanisi by Camille and Mario. Peter leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Peter was a lifelong resident of The North End of Boston. A true “North Ender” and beacon of light in his community. He loved his neighborhood and took great pride in being part of it. Friendly and smart, Peter had a vast amount of knowledge about the North End, always ready with stories and history to share. Peter was an extremely devoted father to his beloved only daughter, Julie of Boston who cared for him tirelessly until he drew his final breath, along with her fiancé, Michael Lindsey of Melrose. Peter is also survived by his 2 loyal cats, Penny and Cubby who remained by his side until the end. A gentle animal lover, Peter took great love in feeding birds and caring for all of God’s creatures. A dedicated Member and caretaker of St. Agrippina’s Society for many years, where he was best known, he was also co-founder of St. Jude’s Society with his wife Franny, where they raised money for Children stricken with Catastrophic diseases. Peter quietly gave to numerous charities throughout the years and loved donating to every Religious Organization in his community. He loved the Feasts. He was also an usher and proud parishioner of St. Leonard Church. He lived close by and took special care from his window to make sure the church grounds were respected. Peter is also greatly known for being the creator and caretaker of All Saints’ Way on Battery St. in the North End. As a dear friend perfectly wrote “A cherished landmark that Peter lovingly created and maintained. Through his meticulous care and encyclopedic knowledge of the saints, Peter offered not only a visual tribute but a spiritual education to all who passed by -residents and visitors from around the world alike.” Peter was one of a kind, hard working, humble, generous, funny, dedicated, devoted and smart…his presence will be sorely missed by many.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 9am to 10am in St Leonard Church, 320 Hanover St., Boston with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10am. Burial will be private.
