BOURNE - David Passed away in his sleep on July 4, 2015 at his home in Bourne. He was born in Wareham, MA on January 5, 1958. He was predeceased by his parents, Bourne Selectman Philip T. Sanford and Dorothy M. Sanford. David was the proud father of his beloved daughter Sondra and will be missed by her and her soon to be born son. David had 6 brothers, 1 sister and 4 sister-in-laws that love him and will miss him very much: Bob Sanford and wife Nancy of Palm Beach FL, Dick Sanford and wife Barbara of Melbourne FL, Tom Sanford and wife Betsey of Sagamore Beach MA, Paul Sanford of Palm Beach FL, Kevin Sanford of Palm Beach FL, Ted Sanford and wife Dee of Lynn MA, as well as sister Beth Pinajian and husband Bryon of Randolph NJ. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
David was a graduate of Bourne High School and lived most of his life on Cape Cod where he had many friends and acquaintances. David was a diehard fan of all the Boston sports teams and enjoyed watching them with his brothers and friends. At the time of his death, David was working at the Mashpee Senior Center where he was loved and appreciated by the staff and the seniors. David attended Tabernacle of Praise Church in Wareham, MA where he worshipped.
David survived a near death experience last June and stated that he was grateful to God for giving him a chance to live after a massive heart attack. The past year of his life was perhaps one of his best and his family and friends are grateful to have shared it with him. He often reminded us of the importance of living each day and how he was able to appreciate the gift of being a father, a son, a brother, and a friend to so many. His time here was far too short but, he will never be forgotten. We will often encourage one another with stories of our time together with him. In our loss, we will weep and we will laugh and we will also be grateful for his presence in each of our lives.
The family would like to thank all who sent condolences, prayers, comfort and support during this difficult time of grief and for honoring David by your presence. Those who knew David knew him to be someone who was larger than life, a friendly, outgoing individual who was also kind and sensitive to the pain of others. We rejoice that he is in a better place where there is no more suffering or sorrow. We grieve his loss but, we grieve with hope because together with him we know the unconditional love of our Savior in whose presence David is now rejoicing.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to “The Sondra M. Tuckwood Benefit Account” at Rockland Trust Bank, 32 Long Pond Rd., Plymouth, MA 02360 or at any Rockland Trust branch.
