Her beautiful, graceful passage mirrored her long life. She was a loving, generous, dynamic woman who cherished her family, her faith, her many friends, and Irish heritage.
Margie, as she was known, was born to Genevieve (Drummey) and Walter V. O’Brien at St. Lawrence Hospital, Medford, MA. She spent her childhood in West Medford and was graduated from Matignon High School. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Boston College and was proud of her Jesuit education. Margie taught in Woburn before marrying her beloved husband, John W. Shyne Jr. of Cohasset, MA.
They built their lives together in Scituate, MA with much joy, laughter and love. Their nuclear family extended to include exchange students, students of Cardinal Cushing and anyone coming into Margie’s kitchen. . .with a good meal and lively conversation, Margie made all feel welcome.
She was, first, a wife, mother and grandmother, roles she enjoyed to her core, as well as volunteer, avid gardener, fine cook, bridge player, crossword lover, and till her last days, pursuer of knowledge.
Survived by Marjorie are her children, Patricia (Kevin) Giehl of Wisconsin, John Shyne of Bourne and Timothy (Cathleen) Shyne of Scituate, Massachusetts, adored grandchildren Karl, Kashi(Adam), Billy, Brendon, Bridget and Kevin, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her cherished husband John W. Shyne Jr. and dear brother Walter V. O’Brien Jr.
The family would like to give deep gratitude to close friends Ethel Morse, Nancy and Peter Weston, who leant immeasurable support through Margie’s latter years.
Her ability to remain in her much-loved home would not have been possible without her caregivers. To Liz, Kristin, Lisa and Deb are extended thanks beyond measure. In the last few months, Trinity Hospice gave endless support, encouragement and care, with special love to Madas, Marlene, Jessica and Sandy.
Thanks to Gail for bringing Communion each week - Margie was graced with much care. . .and love.
