Norman E. Anderson, 85, passed away on February 17th at his home in Sandwich, MA. He was born in Gardner, Ma to the late Ernest Robert and Anna (Newton) Anderson on August 24, 1939 and grew up in Athol, Ma with his sister the late Elvia Anderson (Carey ).
Norman joined the US Air Force right out of school and had a 20 year career with assignments around the U. S. and Europe. After his military service, he worked at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and McLane Research Laboratories in East Falmouth. Norman was very active in his church, singing in the choir and playing bells. He was also a member of the Cape Cod men’s choir We Are The Men, and performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
Norman was married nearly 50 years to his wife the late Betty Jane Anderson (Frazier) and is survived by their three children: Allen and his wife Rainie of Green Ridge, Missouri, James and his partner Valorie of Harwich, Ma. and Cheryl and her partner Joe of Florence, Oregon. He had 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and is survived by his loving companion of 11 years, Karen Richard of Sandwich, Ma.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2 from 5-7pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur BLVD. Bourne, MA. Burial will be privately held on Monday, March 3rd at Massachusetts National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cape and Island Veterans Outreach Center, in Hyannis, Ma.
