Rickie J. Tellier, 64, of Bourne passed away on the morning of Friday, January 12, 2018. He was one of five children born to Joseph Ronald Tellier and Adele M. Tellier who married and raised their family in Bourne. Rickie was married to his wife, Joyce L. Tellier, for forty-five years.
Rickie was a life-long resident of the town of Bourne and remained committed to the Town and it citizens. A graduate of Bourne High School, Rickie was a three-season athlete who played football, hockey and baseball. He went on to be a coach and all-around sports fanatic. Rickie’s forty-year career with the Town of Bourne is punctuated by a professional journey that started by driving truck and concluded with his service as the DPW Superintendent. Rickie was a long-time member of the Bourne Recreation Authority who took his turn serving as chair of the association. Rickie was also a Commissioner for the Buzzards Bay Water District. After his retirement, Rickie spent many summer days riding his tractor and grooming the greens at the New Seabury Country Club.
A tried and true fan of all New England sports teams, Rickie was sure to catch the game on the radio or on the big screen. Whenever possible, Rickie joined his sons or grandchildren at any number of games. And, while he appreciated all sports, Rickie was the biggest fan of the Boston Red Sox. Rickie also enjoyed any chance he had to hit the driving range or play a full round.
Without exception, Rickie believed in family first. Rickie’s life will continue to be celebrated by those he leaves behind: wife, Joyce L. Tellier; son Rickie J. Tellier, Jr., his wife Jennifer Tellier, his sons Rickie (III), Brady, and their daughter, Madison; son Joseph M. Tellier and his wife Sonia L. Tellier, and their children Rylan and Sophie; son Brian S. Tellier and his daughter Willow; and son Michael A. Tellier and his sons Jayden and Cody. Rickie was predeceased by twin sisters Mary and Marie and was the beloved brother of Corinne D. Tellier and Michael R. Tellier.
A celebration of Rickie’s life and visitation with the family is scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 11 am – 2 pm at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Bourne.
