

Robert Gore Howells, of Bourne passed away in his 92nd year. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by Virginia Converse Howells, his wife of more than 60 years, in addition to two grandchildren, Andrew A. Howells and Isabella O. Howells of Sandwich, MA, and nieces and nephew, Christine Howells Reed, Patricia Howells and David Howells. He was pre-deceased by two sons, Donald Robert and Douglas Steven. He was the son of Daniel W. and Dorothy (Gore) Howells of Dennisport, MA.
A graduate of Belmont (MA) High School, Mr. Howells graduated from Boston University School of Management with BS in BA and MBA degrees, and was a veteran of World War II. He also studied labor law at Northeastern University. He spent more than 39 years in Human Resources managements with Allis Chalmers and Emhart Corporation with subsequent years in retirement as a consultant. He also operated a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing service with his son.
Mr. Howells, and several others, worked with his son, Douglas to develop a methodology to help individuals with learning disabilities.
While at Boston University he served as business manager of the Boston University News as well as president of Scarlet Key and of the University Student Council.
Mr. Howells served a term of the Finance Committee of the Town of Wenham.
Mr. Howells also taught evening courses in management at the North Shore Community College, University of Southern Maine and the New Hampshire Technical College.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA.
