
Robert Charles King died Friday, January 13, 2017 at Royal Megansett Nursing Home in Falmouth, MA. He was born in 1939. His parents were Vera B. King, who came from New Brunswick, Canada, and Charles J. King, who grew up in South Boston. He leaves the love of his life Virginia, and his brother, Richard V. King of Rhode Island. He leaves three wonderful daughters, Terryl G. King, Melitta M. King, and Lelia S. King, their spouses and partners and two granddaughters, Megan Katnik and Laina Howes.
Robert grew up in Belmont, MA in a supportive and nurturing household. He married Virginia in his senior year at Boston University. He was fortunate to work with and for many great men and women in his business career at General Foods. Over the years he was involved in most aspects of management, marketing, marketing research, advertising research, and information technology.
At home in Cos Cob, Ct life was full with two careers, three great kids, dogs and cats, weekends on the water and summer trips to their cottage in Maine.
For thirty years he was a hockey referee, and in the summer he and Ginny cruised the coast of New England in their sailboat, Soft Ice.
He retired to the Cape, where he was active on several boards. He enjoyed drawing and painting, growing orchids, running agility with Nanouk, an American Eskimo rescue dog, duplicate bridge, music and watching the view from their place at Treetops, with Ginny. He was a grateful friend of Bill W.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Falmouth Art Center or New England Wild Life. Private arrangements are by the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA.
