Additionally, he leaves behind a varied and vast community of family and friends that are utterly devastated by this sudden loss.
The life and times of Alexis cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs, so we’ll keep it simple. For now.
Alex was born on May 8th, 1969. 44 years later, his daughter Leah would also be born on May 8th. This is just one the many magical things about Alex. He was the second of four children to Judith, second of two sons to Paul. He and his brother, Xavier, were raised in Northern Virginia. Alex attended the University of Maryland where he studied business. There, he met Todd Davis, where the two began a long-time partnership of the Magic of Speed and Thro. Alex’s illustrious illusionist career would allow him to travel near and far, bringing joy to more people than we can count.
It was during college Alex met his lifelong, best friend, Bill Goudey. Alex was the President of the University of MD Sports Car Club. He and Bill met in a lecture class, just sitting next to each other, where they struck up a conversation and the rest is history. Their mutual love of cars, horsepower, and boats were some of their many shared passions. In the early days of their friendship, they participated in many Autocrosses Alex planned and enjoyed a bit of road racing at Summit Point in WV.
In 1993, Alex made a magic show sales visit to a day care center in Greenbelt, MD. There, he met the love of his life, Carolynn Meier, who was the director of the center at the time. It goes without saying, Carolynn booked the show, and Alex got the girl.
They were married in 2003, and welcomed Leah Xandra on May 8, 2013, and Lucius Xavier on January 21, 2016. Before and after the kids came along, Alex and Carolynn were notorious for creating fun experiences for their family and friends including parties, holiday events, and travel adventures.
Alex remained a pillar of strength to his family, near and far, throughout his life and will continue to do so. There are so many more facets to Alex’s life and legacy that will be shared by his family and loved ones in the near future.
