July 31, 1925 - April 13, 2014
Mrs. Major Anne Bulla was Promoted to Glory unexpectedly from her home in Catonsville, MD on April 13, 2014. Anne was born into the family of Augustino and Violetta Castiglione on July 31, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY. Following her father's conversion, Anne and her family began attending church regularly. She was converted in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in 1938 and in her youth felt drawn to Christian service.
In 1941, the family moved from the Bronx to Brooklyn again and her mother met a uniformed Salvationist selling War Crys. Her mother asked the lady if there was a Sunday School her children could attend and this began Anne’s involvement with The Salvation Army. In 1941 she attended Star Lake Fellowship and Music Camp and met her future husband Vincent “Ben” Bulla. They were married on May 5, 1945 and later answered the call to full-time Christian service as officers in The Salvation Army where they served for 28 years. Anne had a special love for the Home League program of The Salvation Army and was an active member in her retirement.
Anne is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Major Vincent “Ben” Bulla of Catonsville, MD; children Stephen (Randi) Bulla of Crownsville, MD, Philip (Renee) Bulla of Monroe, NY, Laurel (Russell) Dehnel of Lakeside, CA and Selene (Alex) Bonnington of Gambrills, MD along with 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers Peter Castiglione of Duluth, GA, Andrew Castiglione of Jamaica Plain, MA, Daniel Castiglione of Oceanside, CA and sister Mary DeMartini of San Marcos, CA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to The Salvation Army, 351 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, MD 21403.
