
Bobby was born June 2, 1929 in Stanly county North Carolina. He grew up in Albemarle. He was a World War II veteran, having served in both the Army and Air Force. He married Anna Mae Shaw on September 16, 1950 (divorced in 1980). Their daughter Karen was born the next year on July 5, 1951. They moved to an apartment in Takoma Park, MD where they welcomed son Jeff on March 8, 1955 and daughter Lynne on June 25, 1956. They moved into a house in New Carrollton, MD in 1961, and welcomed daughter Barbara on February 15, 1966.
In addition to his four children, there were eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren (with a seventh, Gwen due soon), and one great-great-grandchild.
Bobby worked for Litton Industries (later acquired by Northrop Grumman) for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. He spent his retirement years with friends and family enjoying his yard and garden. He loved golf, both playing with his Litton team, and watching tournaments on tv.
Bobby passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022 with his daughter Lynne by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jape Calvin and Iler Pearl Huneycutt Burleson. Brothers and sisters Rena, Wilma, Thurlow, Stella, Aaron, Marshal, Pete, George and Lois. Former wife Anna Mae Shaw Burleson, grandson Jeffrey Alan Burleson, son-in-law Art Skelley, son-in-law Bill Poole, and daughter-in-law Cathy Burleson.
He is survived by his children Karen, Jeff, Lynne and Barbara. Son-in-law Brian. Grandchildren Steve, Becky, Jenny, Erica, Katie, Kylie and Austin. Great-grandchildren Meagan, Corri, Dylan, Tyson, Triston and Tori. And great-great-grandson Keegan. Also survived by his brother Cecil, sister Eleanor, and his very special niece Delaine.
