Carol Jean Thompson, age 73, of Mitchellville, MD passed away Wednesday,

December 8, 2021 at Anne Arundel Medical Center ICU. She was born August

10, 1948 in Riverdale, MD to Garland Perry Thompson and Charlotte Bickford

Thompson.

She graduated from DuVal High School in 1966 and earned a BS degree from

the University of MD, a MA Degree from Bowie State College and a Christian

Counseling Degree from Capital Seminary Bible College in Greenbelt.

She is survived by her brother, Warren Ralph “Pat” Thompson (Harriet); nephew,

Gary Thompson (Joyce) and children Ashlynn and David; niece, Alison Schwartz

and children Tyler Conley and Gabriel; uncle, Dr. Robert I. Bickford; cousins, Kay

Banko (Rich), Jimmy Orrison, Beverly Schill (Jeff) , Mark Bickford (Denise), Susan Mathias (Wayne), Wayne Bickford (Susan), Robin Brooks (Bill), many 2nd cousins, and her best friend of over 50 years, Charlene Raphael (Rick). She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland P.

Thompson and Charlotte B. Thompson.

She worked for the PG County School System as an Elementary PE teacher for

over 30 years, managed/part owner of the Green Acres Swim Club in Seabrook,

managed the White Hall Swim Club in Bowie, and taught piano lessons. She

volunteered her time at Hartsfield, Villa Rosa, and other area assisted care

facilities, singing and praising the Lord through song for over 15 years.

She was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bowie, and a

member of the National Christian Choir for 21 years.

Carol was a kind, loving, and generous soul, full of fun and laughter. A bornagain Christian, she loved going to the beach, swimming, playing the piano and singing. Her greatest joy was in knowing Jesus Christ and sharing the love of her Lord through music and song. She was a wonderful influence and witness for many.

As per her wishes, there will be a private celebration of her life at a later date, but

those wishing to honor Carol’s memory may send contributions to:
