

Eileen “Babe” Jewell Marcos died August 27, 2016 at her home in Bowie, Maryland surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Bowie, Maryland on June 23, 1928 to Dr. George Edward Lancaster and Anna Jewell Lancaster. Eileen attended High School at the Notre Dame Academy in Washington DC and then graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked as a nurse at both Mercy Hospital and Prince George’s General Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland. She married Thomas Elliott Marcos, Sr. of Glenn Dale, Maryland in 1953 and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage before his death in 2010. In 1955 they opened the original Ledo Restaurant in Adelphi, Maryland. Eileen and Tom were lifetime members of the Terrapin Club and enjoyed the University of Maryland sports programs.
Eileen is survived by four children, Marilyn J. Nalley and her husband Les, Sherry M. Costello and her husband Frank, Thomas E. Marcos, Jr. and his wife Susan and James L. Marcos and his wife Teresa. Eileen is also survived by her sister Valerie “Billy” Luers and 12 grandchildren. Many of the grandchildren are 5th generation to live in Bowie. She was preceded in death by her brothers Calvert and Carlyle Lancaster.
The Marcos family will receive friends at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with prayers at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church, Bowie, Maryland at 11 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Catholic Church, Bowie, Maryland or to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
