

Beloved husband of Freda Flizanes Karos, married for 69 years. George Karos was born to John (Kyriakou) Karos and Angeline Pavlou in Dover, New Hampshire on July 22, 1922. George Karos is pre-deceased by his sister, Despina Campaine, his brother, Charles Karos, his beloved son, John G. Karos, and his grandson, Daniel Aaron Huth.
George Karos is also survived by his daughter Angela Karos Hogan, his son and daughter in law Manuel and Despina Karos, his son Constantine Karos, and daughter Tasia Karos Stark and son in law Walter M. Stark, and survived by nine (9) grandchildren and four (4) great grandchildren.
George resided in Crofton, Maryland since 1965, with his wife, Freda, was surrounded by many good friends and neighbors.
George Karos attended high school in Weirton, West Virginia and played on the football team. George joined the Civilian Conservation Corp in West Virginia in the late 1930's. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 16, 1941, and served in the Atlantic fleet aboard the USS Humbolt. His ship was was part of the first convoys to Murmansch, Russia. George served honorably and received numerous service medals during World War II. He achieved the rank of First Class Petty officer as a Radioman and was discharged in 1945.
George was Service Manager for Sears in the 1950's and General Manager for BZ vending in late the 1960 and 1970's. George owned and operated many successful businesses, including Allied Furniture, Fencing, Allied Food Shoppe a restaurant and deli in Tuxedo, Maryland where became known for his famous subs and pizzas. After retirement George and Freda operated Zorbas Famous Restaurant in Ocean City, Maryland. George enjoyed reading, gardening and preparing the loukomathes for the Greek Festivals at Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox in Annapolis, Md., where he was a member for almost fifty years.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd. Bowie, MD 20715. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 24, 2014, 10 am at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Following the service will be a Makaria luncheon in the Church hall.
