Gwynne Lanier Tavel, Sr 4/17/1947 -5/15/2025 Beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend. Former military police officer, Maryland Deputy Sheriff, US Marshall and decorated US Army veteran. At 78, his mind was sharp but he his body was weakened by heart disease and pulmonary fibrosis.
His wife, Kimberley Tavel, preceded his death by eight months. He leaves behind three children Nathalie Tavel (m. James Bartell), Gwynne Tavel Jr (m. Nikki Hawley Tavel) and Kyle Tavel (m. Laura Tavel) and eight grandchildren Gryphon, Aiden, Scarlett, Lorelei, Evelyn, Willow, Lillian and Gideon. The oldest of seven, he is survived by siblings Fred, Michael, Sterlin, Robert, Suzanne, Stephanie, his "much older" aunt LaDonna Tavel Sulima and father in law Pasquale Ricchiuto.
Details regarding a celebration of his life will be shared once his cabin is ready for visitors.
