

Harry Eugene Wannemacher, Jr. of Bowie, Maryland died on February 25, 2016. Harry is a U. S. Navy veteran where he served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. After his time in the Navy, he attended college and he then worked as a physicist at NASA during the peak of the space exploration program. He also served as a Firefighter and EMT at Bowie Volunteer Fire Dept's 19 and then 39, he was a coach for the Belair/Bowie Boys and Girls Club Soccer, Baseball and Basketball and also with the Babe Ruth Baseball Program. A long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he served as a Usher and CCD teacher and he was a 1st degree member of the knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. Harry was a blessing to all. Harry is the husband of Patricia Joan Wannemacher; father of Harry Eugene Wannemacher III, Michael William Wannemacher and his wife Lisa and the late Susan Foutz; father-in-law of Jim Foutz; brother of the late William "Bill" Wannemacher; grandfather of Genna Calabrese and her husband Andrew, Lauren Kunzi and her husband James, Randy, Sara, Jimmy and Christopher Foutz; great-grandfather of Jimmy, Maci, Melani and Camden. Family and friends will be received at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am, Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715. Interment with military honors will be held 10 am, Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Maryland. A procession from the funeral home will depart at 9:15 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to your local hospice.
