Herbert Anderson

Herbert Anderson died peacefully in Bowie, Maryland on Monday, December 19, 2022. He was 90 years old. Herbert is survived by his wife, Juanita Anderson, and daughters Jo Ann Anderson, Robin Anderson Bunch, and son-in-law Troy Bunch.

Herbert was born to Moise Rockett and Charles Anderson of Clarksdale, Mississippi, and was a graduate of a parochial school in Tidewater, Virginia. He served in the Air Force and graduated from the Indiana Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. While there Herbert was one of the founding members of a chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

He is pre-deceased by his three brothers, Earl, Charles, Jr., and Harold, and two sisters Allie and Naomi. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Herbert was employed with both private organizations and the federal government. He retired after 30 years working for the Department of Navy as an Electrical Engineer, Division Chief.

He was an excellent “handyman” and always willing to help others with their home projects. He loved spending time with his family eating crabs, going to the beach, watching the Commanders, traveling, and attending sporting events.

Services will be held on January 7, 2023, at Collington Senior Village in Bowie, Maryland at 11:00 a. m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association.
