On the two year Anniversary of his passing, we are holding James and all of his loved ones in our hearts and prayers.  He may be gone from our sight but never from our memory. Always loved, never forgotten.

I'm deeply saddened to hear the news of Mr. Ryon's passing. He was one of my favorite teachers. I always struggled with math, but he was always patient and found new ways to help me understand. I looked forward to seeing him every day, from freshman year all the way to senior year. Mr. Ryon, you were a light, and I hope you continue to shine wherever you are in the universe. While memories of you bring sadness now, I'm grateful I had the chance to know you in this life. Thank you for everything. Rest in peace, Mr. Ryon.

Mr. Ryon was a true class act.  He was always willing to help a student and truly left a positive impact at Old Mill.  OMHS will miss him.  Sending our thoughts to his family and loved ones.

I was the president of Mr. Ryon's Games Club this past year. I didn't get the chance to get to know him very well, but the time we spent together was always fun and treasured. Upon his disappearance from school we began to worry, and when a member of his secret teacher D&D group confirmed that he was no longer dm'ing for them we knew things were bad, but we hoped the day would never come. Myself and the rest of the club are devastated at the news of Mr. Ryon's passing, and it has deeply affected his alumni, who got to spend years with him, and his youngest club members, who with the help of his club were able to reintegrate after covid and make lifelong friends. I have fond memories of hanging out in his room both inside and outside of club hours while he explained board games that were new to me and making me love them before I even played them. He introduced me to my all time favorite game, Ticket to Ride, which I will remember him by every time I play. I never got the chance to tell him, but I have taken steps to ensure his club and his legacy live on within the school: I want Mr. Ryon to know that with the cooperation of our new president Carter, and the new president of the D&D Club Corey, we have agreed to officially join Games Club and D&D Club as coexisting units with two presidents and a group of advisors. With these two, and the coming presidents, we will ensure your legacy lives on as long as the club does, and after the club goes, your memory never will until everyone who knew you or will know of you does. Mr. Ryon was my AP Computer Science teacher last year. Everything he did was to help people, even the people who didn’t seem to recognize it. Every class, every day, in health and in sickness - he did everything in his power to help people understand. To give us our best shot at a better future.  He was a good, truly good man. He never cared what people thought of him - not even for a second - as long as he could continue to do what he loved. The impact he has made will continue for long after his passing, and he will be in the hearts of all the students who had the pleasure of getting to know him. Despite our polar opposite personalities Mr. Ryon was always a great friend to me. He would let me ramble on and on about Astrology- even if he did not believe in it. When I expressed interest in D&D, Mr. Ryon graciously invited me into his game and gave me some of my most favorite memories together. He was a great person and I will treasure all of our memories together. Rest easy my friend. ❤️🌙
