

John is survived by his wife, Delores Bowling; his children, Donna Davis (Henry) of Davis, WV and Elizabeth Derr (Charles) of Overland Park, KS; daughter-in-law Marion Payne of Harwood, MD; his nine grandchildren, Jonathon Payne (Liz), Brittany Sims (Shawn), Steven House, Khristopher Payne, Michelle Payne, Sarah Davis, Ethan Derr, Hannah Derr, and Ryan Derr; as well as his five great-grandchildren; Abygail, Skyler, Emma, Wesley, and Clara. He is preceded in death by his sons, Gary Thomas and Michael Scott.
John was born on December 22, 1947 in Washington, DC to Roy Edward Bowling and Eleanor Imogene Knight. He is survived by three brothers; Roy, Michael, and Paul; and four sisters; Pat, Donna, Wanda, and Nela.
John enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation from high school. He was very proud of his service on USS Ticonderoga, during the Vietnam War. He went on to enjoy successful careers in sales and real estate.
John was passionate about his family and friends, his Washington Redskins, the Washington Nationals, oatmeal cookies, and coffee.
The family will receive visitors at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd Bowie, MD on Thursday, August 4th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 5th at 10am.
