Marie Ann Fulginiti, long-time resident of Bowie, MD since 1965, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. She was 95 years old when she left this earth to be reunited with her husband, Edward, together once again in God’s loving embrace. Marie and Ed were sweethearts from first meeting in Philadelphia in 1943, married in 1949 and lovingly devoted for 66 years; Edward pre-deceased Marie in 2015. Born to John and Julia Heald in 1928, sister to Dorothy (deceased 2020), Marie gave birth to eight children, seven of whom are still living, one child having died in infancy. An amazing, caring mother, she is survived by sons Edward, John, Richard, Steve and Tom and daughters Linda and Diane. Her children and their spouses have made her the grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 20.
Marie’s gift for music was shared teaching piano to literally hundreds of students over many years on her Yamaha Grand from the living room of her Meadowbrook home. She was also active with the Music Teachers Association of Bowie, serving one year as its President, a member of the church choir at Ascension Parish in Old Bowie and long-time member of Bowie’s Senior Chorale Group. Many referred to her as “The Music Lady” and with good reason.
A Memorial service for Marie and family visitation will be held at Ascension Church in Bowie on July 1, 2023 between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. All are welcome. A mass will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. A private burial will follow.
She will be interred alongside husband Edward and child Michael at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Marie A. Fulginiti may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
