Mathew John

Mathew John, age 72, of Bowie, Maryland passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Mathew was born in Kumbanad in March 1951 as the youngest son of Thomas and Aleyamma John. On April 13, 1978, he married Polly and welcomed his daughter, Sony, in 1981. In 1984, he moved to the United States to work as a systems analyst for Litton, which became Northrop Grumman. He also received his degree in Information Technology Systems from Capitol College. He retired in June 2023 after over 40 years of service with Northrop Grumman.

He was a very active member of the Syro-Malankara Catholic community and served on the board for many years. He also loved playing tennis, watching football, and facetiming with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind a strong legacy with the Syro-Malankara Catholic community. Matthew is survived by his wife Polly, his daughter Sony, Son-in-law Sunil, and grandchildren Alyssa and Dylan. He also leaves behind his surviving siblings Georgekutty and Lily. We will all miss him dearly.

A visitation for Mathew will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holy Spirit Rectory, 1717 Ritchie Road, District Heights, MD 20747, followed by a funeral service from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Interment is private.
