

Born on November 1, 1947 in Little Rock, AR to the late Willie Mae Oliver and Randolph Abernathy. Tressie graduated from Philander Smith College with a B.A. Degree in Education a M.S. Degree in Higher Education from Alabama A&M University. She was a teacher in the Pulaski County Public Schools and Detroit Public School systems for more than 8 years. Tressie was an active member of Reid Temple A.M.E. Church, Glenn Dale, MD since 2006, participating on Greeter Committee in addition, to being active member of Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for past 25 years.
Tressie has worked for the Army Continuing Education System for 36-1/2 years and her career has been in the Army Education Centers at Redstone Arsenal, AL and Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD as the Education Service Officer spent providing continuous service to military personnel and their families. Tressie received numerous awards and achievements with promotions for outstanding service in education.
Tressies' most cherished hobbies consisted of interior decoration, attending Broadway plays, Fine Dining especially Southern Cuisines, and love of counseling family and friends.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sherry T. Stout, Huntsville, AL, Don(Kathy) Stout Jr., Huntsville, AL, Rhonda (Bruce) Edwards, Bowie, MD; 4 loving grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; 3 sisters; Veda L. Sims, Heidi Lovelace both of Little Rock, AR, Tyra Majeeda, Kansas City, MO, 3 brothers; Denny Abernathy and Chonney O. Abernathy both of North Little Rock, AR. Predeceased by Reginald (Shirley) Abernathy of Dallas, TX.
Tressie was preceded in death by her husband, Don Edward Stout, Sr., her high school sweetheart of 47 years.
