Sarah “Sally” (Conner) Lincoln of East Aurora, NY passed away peacefully in her home on October 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Sarah was born on June 19, 1939, in West Virginia to loving parents Marion and George Conner. Sarah attended junior high school in Hershey, Pennsylvania and high school in Worthington, Ohio, graduating second in her class at the age of 16. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art with Honors from Ohio Wesleyan University, and later earned her master’s degree in education from Buffalo State College.
Sarah married John Lincoln on April 14, 1962, in Darien, Connecticut. She and John enjoyed many adventures early on, as John’s job with Clark Material Handling moved them around the country from Connecticut to New Jersey, Michigan, and California, before they settled in East Aurora, New York in 1975.
Sarah began her teaching career in New Canaan, Connecticut, and later, after lovingly raising three children, she became a beloved art teacher in the East Aurora School District for many years. A gifted artist herself, Sarah was skilled in painting, and also designed detailed needlework patterns worthy of a gallery. In retirement she traveled to paint at Chateau De La Napoule on the coast of France.
As a mother of three beautiful children, Sarah was foremost an active and loving parent. She encouraged her children in athletics, art, and education and was proud of their various achievements. Ever the consummate facilitator and organizer, Sarah energetically led and participated in many activities and organizations across her lifetime, including the Junior League of Summit, NJ, Battle Creek, MI, and Atherton, CA, a dedicated book club that spanned nearly 50 years, a fun-loving gourmet group, and a thoughtful bible study group that met for over twenty years. Sally was an avid golf and tennis player. She did the New York Time’s Crossword Puzzle without fail, every Sunday. In the 1980’s, Sarah and her good friend Ginny, started Country Flags, designing cheerful, seasonal flags that graced East Aurora’s Main St. and many homes in the area.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Lincoln, the three children she adored, Jennifer Lincoln, Jay Lincoln, Matthew (Kelly) Lincoln, two grandchildren Kyra and Jack Lincoln, and many cherished family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in Sarah’s honor at 10:30am on Saturday, November 2nd at the East Aurora First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to East Aurora First Presbyterian Church (https://www.fpcea.org).
