
Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Earl and Lilly (Schechter) Roan.
He was a graduate of Abington High School, Montgomery County, a 1961 graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College and a 1971 graduate of Temple where he received his Masters. He was in the ROTC in college.
Abe was a Charter Member and past Director of the Goschenhoppen Historians Inc., member of the Board of Directors for the Antes House Committee for the Restoration and Property Management of the Henry Antes Plantation National Historical Site, Committee Chair of the Goschenhoppen Folk Festival. Abe was a Model Train and Rail Fan and fancied himself as a musician.
Abe taught English and History in the Upper Dublin School District in the Middle and Secondary schools for 30 years retiring in 1991.
Surviving with his wife Nancy of 39 years is a son, Matthew J. Roan at home.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, April 3, 2011 between 1 – 4 p.m., at The Henry Antes Plantation, 318 Colonial Road, Perkiomenville. You are to bring chairs. Light Refreshments will be served.
