Evelyn M. Schroeder Frain

Born in Pottstown she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Johnson) and William G. Schroeder.

She was a 1941 graduate of Pottstown High School, a 1944 graduate of Pottstown Hospital School of Nursing and later received a nursing degree from West Chester State College. Evelyn was a registered nurse at the former Pottstown Hospital and memorial hospital and she last worked at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center as orientation instructor for new nurses. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown and a former Sunday School Teacher. Evelyn was an avid bowler, involved in numerous leagues. She loved bingo and playing the organ. She was a former Gilbertsville Girl Scout Troop Leader. A member of the Pottstown Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and the Christian Fellowship at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Pottstown. Evelyn was a Red Cross volunteer.

Surviving with her husband Robert S. of 66 years (married October 14, 1944) are two daughters, Patricia A., wife of Gary L. Conrad of Malvern, PA and JoAnn, wife of Richard A. Magners of Martinsburg, WV; a son Robert B., husband of Kim Frain of Boyertown; five grandchildren, Kristin J. Conrad, Jeffrey S., Jonathan and Matthew D. Gabel, Joel R. and Todd M. Frain; two great-grandsons, Mason J. and Colin J. Gabel; three sisters, Mildred Stamp, twin sisters, Doris Hart and Betty Comtois; half-sister, Katherine Hill and a half-brother, John Schroeder. She was predeceased by a sister, Jean Missimer, half-sister, Norma Schroeder and a half-brother, William Schroeder.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. The Reverend John G. Pearson will officiate.

A viewing will be Tuesday between 10 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown
