Born in Cumberland, MD, he was predeceased by his parents Arlene E. Williams and John D. Bennett, and his sister Camela "Lady" Natale.
Gilbert served in the USAF attaining the rank of Staff Sargent, and was employed as a Draftsman Engineer for the Kelly Springfield Tire Company (Cumberland, MD), Alleghany Ballistics Laboratory (Rocket Center, W.Va) and GE Aerospace (King of Prussia, PA). In his free time he was an avid hunter and private pilot who enjoyed restoring and flying his 1946 Taylorcraft airplane.
Gilbert was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Norristown Lodge #620 F & A.M. and the Valley of Allentown Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his loving children, Bret A. (Connie) Bennett of FL, Roxann Bennett Waggener of FL, and Brandon B. (Maureen) Bennett of Perkiomenville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher, David, Brittany, Emily, Bryson and Clark, as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately.
