John Clayton Lefever Sr.

John C. Lefever, Sr., 91, of Pottstown, widower of Betty Jean (Sands) Lefever passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 in the Quakertown Center.

Born in Philadelphia he was a son of the late Jess (Hansken) and B. Franklin Lefever.

John was the owner/operator of John’s Auto Service from 1958 to 1985 and was a mechanic and farmer all his working life.

He served in the Navy during WWII as an Aircraft Mechanic on Norfolk, VA Seaplane Base. John was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown and a member of the Pottstown Masonic Lodge.

John is survived by a daughter, Sharon A., wife of Dennis Lee Shollenberger of Boyertown; two sons, John C. Jr., husband of Sherry Lefever of Mt. Penn and James R., husband of Maggie Lefever of Douglassville; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown.

Relatives and friends may call Monday between 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Wounded-Warrior Project, 4899 Belfont Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512.
