Lillian H. Turner, age 89, of Allentown, PA, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Joseph Hertz and Elsie Ruth (Bushong) Hertz. Married in 1951, she was the wife of 47 years to the late Donald W. Turner. A devoted, loving wife, caring mother and homemaker, Lillian’s kindness and good-natured sense of humor will long be remembered. Her family and friends have been joyful recipients of her works of art in water color, pastel, and oil. Lillian’s role of nurturing caretaker also extended to her church home, Peace Lutheran in Port Charlotte, FL. Serving wholeheartedly, she cared for the homeless, assisted the elderly, taught Sunday school, partnered in various administrative tasks as well as numerous church upkeep projects. Her prayerfulness, charity, and dedication earned her the unofficial title of the “Anna” of Peace Lutheran. Her family and friends have been greatly blessed by her faith and love for her Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her son, M. James Turner of Perkasie, PA, and her grandsons, Joshua and Brian; her daughter, Cheryl (Turner) Hamilton of Allentown, PA, wife of Thomas R., and her granddaughters, Melodie, Chariti, Celeste, Christal, and Hannah. Lillian is also survived by 19 beautiful great-grandchildren. A private service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Lillian’s memory. Online condolences may be made at lwottfuneralhomeinc.com.

Aunt Lil’s loving bond with everyone in the family was a precious gift. Her generosity, sweet humor and through-and-through goodness, a wonderful role model for the passel of us nieces and nephews. She somehow made each of us feel special. Our Mom, Elise, adored Aunt Lil as we all did. Whenever our Dad (Lil’s brother Joe Hertz) heard her name he would stop what he was doing, get this special look on his face and slowly say “My Sissy”. Just thinking of her brought him joy and the wonderful memories of brothers and sisters and spouses celebrating, visiting each other, traveling together. We are lucky to have grown up with such an amazing family. Sue and Barb

Unfortunately, I didn’t know Lillian personally, but fondly remember her lovely note when my mother, Kathryn Campbell, Peggy Hertz’s sister, passed away. Her obituary was beautiful, and I wish I had known her well. I pray for God’s comfort and peace to surround your family now and in the days to come.
