Maria Rita Moyer

Born at home in Reading, PA, she was the last surviving child of the late Mary E. (Gabor) and Harry A. Snyder, and also the late Charles W. Mengel, Sr.

Marie was a registered nurse and, in her early years, worked in the Reading Hospital emergency room and then for Dr. Elmo Sommers in Boyertown. After raising her family, she worked for the Frederick Mennonite home from 1970-1980 and then for Manorcare in Pottstown for many years until her retirement in 1995. Marie was a life member of the Alumni Association of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

Marie was a proficient quilter and knitter. She won many awards at the Oley Community Fair and the Pennsylvania Farm Show, where she won "Best of Show" for one of her quilts in January of 2010.

Marie and her husband, "Red" Moyer, made many trips to the Delaware shores. Marie enjoyed antiquing and visiting historical sites and museums while Red fished. They were also proprietors of The Shanesville Hotel in Earl Township in the 1960's for many years.

She is survived by her children, Stevan M. husband of Cindy, and Linda S. wife of Blake Stone both of Earl Township. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Jennifer Savage, Melissa Selfinger, Samantha Welch and Ryan Stone. 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Maria is predeceased by her siblings, John R. Mengel, Elaine (Mengel) Atkinson, Charles W. Mengel Jr, Margarete (Snyder) Stewart and Lora (Snyder) Freeman Everhart.

Private Burial will be at Laureldale Cemetary at the convenience of the family.
