With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Moira Anne Heller, age 92, of Limerick, PA. Widow of the late James Cecil Heller, Sr. Passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, in her residence surrounded by family.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was a daughter of the late Eva (Williamson) and Alexander Thompson.
Our mother is deeply mourned by her children, Kathleen A. Roth of Limerick, PA with whom she lived. James C. Heller, Jr. (Susan) of Salem, NJ, Shirley Ann Grumbine (Jeff) of Ephrata, PA and Janet M. Light of Pottstown, PA. Thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive her. Siblings, Hazel T. Day of Newton, England and Audrey T. Wilson from Edinburgh, Scotland. Our mother is predeceased by her children, Bruce A. Heller, Sr. in 2010, Peggy E. Pettia in 2017 and Samuel C. Heller III in 2021 and twins Debbie and John in 1962. Siblings, Alexander Thompson, Estelle T. Stewart, Kathleen T. Derringer, Thelma T. Hitchins, and Eva Thompson.
Our mother loved to share family stories about growing up during the Depression Era, the family evacuations during World War II in Scotland, life following the war and her first impressions upon arriving in America. She always shared them in the most positive manner. She enabled us to know
and love our Scottish family through the many conversations and stories she shared with us through the years. Her return visits to the family in Scotland brought her so much joy. She would always quote “you may leave Scotland, but Scotland never leaves you!”
Our mother’s work ethic defined her as a wife, mother, with customers and co-workers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She worked in the restaurant business for over 40 years. She was also an employee of Johnson and Johnson for five years. She was well-respected, making many friends over the years. She was a hard, dedicated worker with never a complaint.
Our mother enjoyed many hobbies over the years. She loved reading, baking, gardening, flower arranging, wreath-making, and crocheting. She created many hats, scarves, throws and blankets. Mittens were always a challenge. The family and many a newborn child received her creations as gifts.
Though our mother may not have liked to be the center of attention she deserves to have her long years of motherly love honored. We will find comfort in knowing our mother’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
