If my husband had to leave us he truly went the way he would want to go. He was hunting and he just shot a BUCK and he was walking with his friend Rick Fichter back to Rick's truck and he had a massive heart attack. I believe in my heart that he did not suffer.
The following is his obituary and a little something from our daughter Stephanie who turned 14 yrs old 2 weeks after her daddy passed away.

I would like to send a special thank you for all of the thoughts, prayers and well wishes offered during this very difficult time. We are trying so very hard to do the things Todd would want us to do. I truly miss him so very much. All of our friends and family have been so wonderful and helpful. I know Stephanie and I would not be able to get through this time without all of you.
BELOW IS SOMETHING SPECIAL THAT STEPHANIE WROTE ABOUT HER DADDY AND IT WAS READ AT HIS FUNERAL:
I just wanted to share some things that I did with my Daddy. And everyone will see what I saw, he was the best Daddy in the world and we did a lot of things together, And I love him so much and miss him so much, I just want my Daddy back.
He would always take me snowmobiling (along with Rick, Sue, Ashley, Cody, My Mom, Dennis, Denise, and Ricky). One time we were in the field up back and he went really fast over a bump and I fell off the back, but he kept going until he didn't feel me on the back and quick turned around to get me. I also sometimes rode my 4-wheeler behind my dad and Rick. The one time I didn't really know where we were and Rick was in the front on his snowmobile and then my dad on his snowmobile then me on my four-wheeler, and we were on this path in a field and my 4-wheeler stalled and wouldn't start again and I was trying to yell that my 4-wheeler stopped but they didn't hear me until my dad looked back and didn't see me so then he came back to get me.
My dad Always took me spotting for deer when he went, but I usually fell asleep-Except when he saw deer then he woke me up and said look at the deer, one time we saw a white deer with a brown spot on it and I was sleeping so he made sure I woke up to see it.
Another thing that I will miss is the Nickname my daddy had for me and that was Gomer even though I really don't know where that came from.
I really enjoyed going fishing with my dad even though we haven't went for a while because he had a job that he would work a lot in the summertime.
He used to always sit on the floor with me and sometimes my mom and play games and cards. We always played UNO and Parcheesi.
I always watched my dad skin his deer. And me and Hunter were the only kids who didn't get grossed out. So then I said to my dad that I wanted to skin deer to. My dad said that I should know how to do it by now because I watched him enough times.
Those are just a few wonderful things about my Daddy. I really love and miss my daddy. He will always be in my heart and I know he is watching over me and my mom.
BYE DADDY-I LOVE YOU Stephanie was truly Daddy's Little Girl!!!!!!
This is just something special that I wrote and wanted to be read at the funeral. I do have to extend a special thank you to Danny and Jacquie -- they read this at Todd's funeral I know how difficult that was for them to do.
I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW A FEW THINGS ABOUT MY LOVING HUSBAND.
HE WAS THE MOST WONDERFUL HUSBAND AND FATHER. HE WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. TODD WAS MY SOUL MATE. I WILL CHERISH EVERY MOMENT OF OUR LIFE TOGETHER. IT WAS CUT SHORT THOUGH.
TODD TRULY LOVED LIFE. HE ENJOYED EVERY DAY TO ITS FULLEST.
HE LOVED HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS SO MUCH. HE ESPECIALLY LIKED THE TIMES ALMOST EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT THAT WE PLAYED CARDS AND GOT TOGETHER WITH SUE, RICK ASHLEY AND CODY. LET ME ADD HE WAS SO PROUD TO HEAR THAT ASHLEY WAS ACCEPTED AT PENN STATE. HE COULDN'T WAIT TO TELL ME THE NEWS.
I TRULY NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BE A WIDOW AT 42 YEARS OLD AND MY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WOULD HAVE LOST HER DADDY. (STEPH WAS DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL). BUT I KNOW HE IS WITH US ALWAYS AND WATCHING OVER US EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY.
FRIDAY MORNING WAS A TYPICAL DAY FOR US. I WOKE AND THEN WOKE UP TODD AND STEPHANIE. I GOT READY FOR WORK, TODD GOT READY TO GO HUNTING AND STEPHANIE GOT READY FOR SCHOOL. WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR TODD TO LEAVE HE DID HIS USUAL THING CAME TO ME AND KISSED ME AND SAID LOVE YOU AND WENT TO STEPHANIE KISSED HER AND SAID LOVE YOU. THEN A FEW HOURS LATER I WAS WORKING AND RECEIVED A PHONE CALL THAT TODD HAD A HEART ATTACK AND THEN RECEIVED THE NEWS THAT HE DIED INSTANTLY. AND LET ME JUST SAY THAT OUR LIVES WERE TURNED UP SIDE DOWN IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT.
THERE WAS NOT ONE DAY IN ALMOST 17 YEARS THAT TODD LEFT THE HOUSE THAT HE DIDN'T KISS STEPHANIE AND I . HE WOULD SAY LOVE YOU. EVEN IF HE WENT SOMEWHERE FOR 10 MINUTES HE WOULD DO THAT.
I DO HAVE TO MENTION HOW HE LOVED HIS FAMILY. HIS MOM MEANT THE WORLD TO HIM, INCLUDING HIS BROTHERS AND SISTER. WHEN HE LOST HIS FATHER AND BROTHER THAT TOOK A PIECE OF HIM, BUT HE WAS STRONG FOR HIS MOM.
HE LOVED HIS DAUGHTERS, TANYA, TARA AND TRISHA AND HE CHERISHED HIS GRANDCHILDREN, KRISTEN, HUNTER, DYLAN AND TRAVIS.
THERE WERE SO MANY THINGS THAT HE ENJOYED DOING. WE ALL KNOW HOW MUCH HE ENJOYED HUNTING AND I HAVE TO MENTION THAT IF MY HUSBAND HAD TO LEAVE US I AM SO THANKFUL HE WAS NOT ALONE. HE WAS WITH HIS FRIEND RICK FICHTER. RICK IS A VERY CLOSE FRIEND. HE ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT HE SPENT WITH RICK, HUNTING, FISHING AND PLAYING CARDS. I NEED TO LET RICK KNOW NOT TO BE UPSET AND TO LET HIM KNOW THAT I KNOW HE DID EVERYTHING HE COULD FOR MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND.
HE HAD SO MANY WONDERFUL FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS. I DO HAVE A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE BEST NEIGHBORS, DENNIS, RICKY AND DENISE. HONESTLY, DENNIS AND RICKY WERE THE SONS THAT TODD NEVER HAD. HE LOVED THE THREE OF THEM DEARLY. I HAVE A FUNNY STORY, WHEN TODD, DENNIS AND RICKY WENT FOR WALKS IN THE WOODS TODD WOULD ALWAYS TELL ME YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN DENNIS HE WAS HUFFING AND PUFFING – HE COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH THE OLD MAN (THIS WAS TODD'S NICKNAME). THEN OF COURSE TODD WOULD LAUGH WHEN HE WAS TELLING ME THIS. THEN HE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE TO GIVE DENNIS A HARD TIME TO PICK ON HIM.
I HAVE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR ALL OF THE WELL WISHES AND PRAYERS. WE WILL ALL MAKE IT THRU THIS WITH THE HELP OF OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND KNOWING THAT TODD IS WATCHING OVER US. I KNOW IN MY HEART AND SOUL THE HE WILL BE WATCHING OVER US.
WE JUST MISS HIM TERRIBLY AND WISH IT WAS A DREAM.
I HAVE TO MENTION EILEEN, BRIAN, DANNY, JACQUIE MY MOM AND DAD, ANGELA AND KEVIN. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT THEM AND I THANK THEM FOR EVERYTHING.
I ALSO HAVE TO MENTION OUR CAMPING FRIENDS. TODD THOUGHT THE WORLD OF ALL OF YOU. HE WAS SO EXCITED TO GO CAMPING – THAT IS WHEN IT WASN'T DEER SEASON.
ALSO, I HAVE A REAL SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ANDY HANSLEY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. WITHOUT HIS SPECIAL LITTLE NUDGE TO TODD – TODD WOULD NOT HAVE ASKED ME OUT ON OUR 1ST DATE. EVEN THOUGH THE 1ST TIME HE ASKED ME I SAID NO. BUT THEN SOMETHING INSIDE OF ME TOLD ME TO LOOK FOR TODD THE NEXT TIME I WAS AT LIMERICK BOWLING ALLEY. SO IT WAS ONLY A DAY OR TWO LATER AND I FOUND HIM AND WE WENT OUT AND WE WERE TOGETHER EVERY DAY SINCE FOR ALMOST 17 YEARS. SO ANDY I CANNOT EXPRESS TO YOU WHAT YOU DID FOR US.
I JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF SPECIAL MAN TODD WAS. HE WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART.
My Husband was the most kind hearted man I knew. He would do just about anything for anyone. It did not matter how big the job was he would do it just help people and he would never expect anything in return. I know that he is watching over all of us. WE LOVE YOU HONEY!!!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU SWEETIE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH
