Doreen Laura Carista

Today, March 5, 2025 we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Doreen Carista. Her life story reads like a novel. She wrote the story of her life as a gift to her grandchildren in a book she called, My Kismet.

She was born in Liverpool England in 1924. She met her husband, Michael Carista, while staging for the D-Day invasion in World War II. After the war, she traveled to the US where they wed. Soon after, they moved to North Syracuse. They tragically lost their first daughter Linda Joyce at the young age of five. She went on to have seven more children. They lived in their home for over 40 years. She and her husband loved gardening and it was his passion to make their garden as lovely as the ones she remembered from England.

Her husband, Michael passed away in 1992. She went on to live until the ripe old age of 101.

She is survived by her seven remaining children, Mickey, Mary, Hilary, Gregory, John, Gillian (Jeff Fisher) and Stephanie (Michael Sessa), 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

We will miss her for the rest of our lives. We love you mom.

Per Doreen's wish, there will be no services.
