Katelyn "Kate" Johns

Katelyn “Kate” Johns passed away on March 5, 2026 in Parrish, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family after an extraordinary eleven-year battle with brain cancer. Throughout her life, Kate displayed remarkable strength, grace, and unwavering faith.

Kate was a devoted wife to her husband, Owen, and a loving mother to their two children, Wyatt and Emma. They were great joys to her life. She cherished every moment spent with her family.

Kate was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on April 11, 1990 and grew up and married in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She earned her degree as a surgical technologist and spent many years working in the operating room. She loved being part of the surgical team and caring for patients during their most critical moments.

From a young age, Kate had a special love for animals and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Getting her nails done and spending time with those closest to her gave her joy. In 2024, the Johns family fulfilled one of Kate’s dreams by moving to Florida. They spent many happy days together searching for shells along the beautiful beaches of Florida’s west coast.

Above all, Kate had a deep love for Jesus that shaped her life and the way she cared for others. Her faith carried her through unimaginable challenges and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Despite facing illness for more than a decade, Kate never lost her warmth, kindness, joy, and compassion. She lived with courage, hope, and gratitude, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and perseverance. That will live on through her children and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Owen Johns; her children, Wyatt and Emma; her parents, Charles and Deborah Overmier; her sister, Brittany, and brother-in-law, Zach Johnson; along with many extended family members and dear friends. All whose lives were touched by her gentle spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM at Bayside Community Church (North River) in Parrish, Florida, with dinner to follow.
