Mary S. Jessup

Mary S. Jessup, 75, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025. Born on May 25, 1949, in Hyde Park, New York, Mary was the beloved daughter of Joe and Betty Spera (Predeceased). She went on to build a remarkable 46-year career at IBM, where she was known for her unwavering work ethic, reliability, and quiet excellence. Mary’s dedication and talent earned the respect of colleagues across generations. She took great pride in her work, approaching every task—big or small—with care, precision, and integrity.

Mary embraced life with quiet strength, a kind heart, and deep devotion to those she loved. A health-conscious and active woman, she found joy in exercise and in preparing nutritious, primarily plant-based meals—often encouraging others to embrace wellness alongside her. She had a natural gift for organizing and decorating, bringing beauty and calm to every space she touched. Mary also enjoyed curling up with a good book and was a passionate New York Rangers fan, rarely missing a game during her retirement.

Above all, Mary cherished her role as “Mimi.” Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, Austin and Ashlee, whose lives she enriched with love, laughter, and gentle guidance.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Richard (“Dick”) Jessup; her son Greg and daughter-in-law Connie; and her cherished grandchildren, Austin (14) and Ashlee (11). She is also survived by her sisters, Pat Marks, Anne Revman, and Cathy Spera. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Betty Spera.

A visitation for Mary will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, with a prayer service at 11:30 AM, at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, FL 34211.

Mary had a deep love for pearls and wore them with grace and timeless elegance. In her honor, women who are attending are warmly invited to wear pearls—a simple, beautiful tribute to the way she lived her life.
