William Stanley Nowak

William Nowak was born on July 8, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan to Stanley and Martha (Waier) Nowak. He married Marlene Soltysiak on September 30, 1961. Together they enjoyed an amazing 50 years of marriage. Surviving family members include children RuthAnn (Richard) LaMore and Matthew (Dr. Melissa Paliani) Nowak, grandchildren Jacob LaMore and Leah Nowak – all of Florida, and several nephews and their wives. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters – Marie (Ira) Metevia and Roselyn (Joseph) Wendzik.

Bill attended St. Josaphat Elementary School – Carrollton, Michigan and St. Andrew High School – Saginaw, Michigan. He served our country by completing two tours in the US Army. He was devoted to his career in the food industry working at Park & Shop (Home Dairy) and Sunshine Biscuits/Keebler companies – serving in sales management capacities. He received the distinguished Sunshine Biscuits President’s Club award in 1987 and retired from Sunshine after 35 years.

Bill enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, and was an avid card player at the Lakeridge Falls Clubhouse. He loved vacations with his family and friends, especially with his young grandchildren. Bill cherished making memories with the Nowak, Metevia, Wendzik, Soltysiak, Sujkowski, Grybowski, Meleski, and Haley families, and his many friends in Michigan and Florida.

Bill was a past member of St. Josphat, Holy Spirit, and St. Stephen (St. Dominic) Catholic Parishes in the Saginaw area. Most recent membership was at Our Lady of the Angels Parish – Lakewood Ranch, Florida. He served on the Parish Councils at Holy Spirit and St. Stephen Parishes, plus the St. Stephen School Board. He completed two terms as Parish Council Chairperson at St. Stephen. He was currently a member of Sts. Cosmos and Damian Knights of Columbus – Lakewood Ranch, Florida, American Legion – Saginaw, Michigan, and Polish Heritage Society – Bay City, Michigan. He was a past member of the Fr. Nouvel Knights of Columbus Council, Pulaski Club, Falcons Club, and Maple Hills Golf Club all in the Saginaw, Michigan area.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 12905 State Road 70 East, Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Fr. Alan Baldarelli will preside.
