Sandy was born in Kitchener to the late Alex and Nadine (Holloway) Donnan. He is survived by his wife Diana Clark of 20 years, sisters’ Gaye Donnan, Jill Toma (Dwain), niece Jackie Kirby (Kam), nephew Jason Toma (Victoria), great nephews Parker and Jackson Kirby, Ethan and Zachary Toma, brothers and sisters-in-law Miriam Wylie (John), Cynthia King (Andy), Pam Craney (Ed), Donald Clark (Nela) and Clyde Clark (Ava) and eight nieces and nephews.
Sandy’s family moved to Etobicoke when he was young, he had a passion for building, designing, or repairing anything electrical or mechanical. Sandy loved to visit his aunt Edna, uncle Tug and their son Albert in Battersea Kingston. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with uncle Tug and cousin Bert as they all called him. Bert would take Sandy up in his plane and see the sights from above.
Sandy worked for Rogers Cable for over 20 years, first in the Technical Division then working his way up to Fiber Optics in Brampton. Sandy worked at EDS-Door Corp for a short period then worked at Paradise Homes as a Customer Care PDI Specialist.
When Sandy retired in Brampton, he renewed his interests with building things out of wood and gardening. He was always growing something like vegetables or flowers. He grew some of the hottest peppers. He started making homemade wine and beer. Sandy was generous and kind to all his neighbours and friends, a man with a big heart. He enjoyed sitting with neighbours in their garages chatting and having a few beers. He played with some of the children on the street and gave them flowers from his garden over the fence. He enjoyed any sports on TV golf, soccer you name it, the Leafs, Blue Jays and Raptors were his favourites. He would call his brother-in-law Dwain and discuss the games.
Sandy was very proud of his Irish heritage. Sláinte! (Health!)
Sandy will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
Private services will be held in celebration of Sandy’s life in the future…
