It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Barbara Ann Copp, of Brampton Ontario, passed away with her children by her side, at Brampton Civic hospital on the evening of Thursday September 24, 2020. Born in Stratford, she was the daughter of the late Rose Brooks Henderson and Gordon Edison Brooks. Barb will be dearly missed by her two children, Rebecca Leach and David Copp, her grandson, Jackson, her sisters Brenda Sinton (Ted Sinton) and Bonnie R. Brooks. She will be fondly remembered by her niece Kristin Kidd (Robert Kidd) and their children Thomas, Jonathan and Shannon and her many cousins in the extended Forman clan. Known to many as an incredibly resilient woman, Barb courageously faced her life’s challenges with grace. Her strength and endurance over the last few years served to be nothing short of inspirational. Her brilliant mind, active wit and wonderful sense of humour are just a few of the many attributes she was known for. She dedicated much of her life to her passion, education. Recognized as “one of the best teachers ever”, many of her students will recollect her love of teaching and investing in others. Barb was also passionate about her community and giving back. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. In her memory, donations to The Scott Mission, Diabetes or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated in lieu of flowers. Barb’s family invite you to join us as we honour her memory in this digital memory book at the link above.

Dear David & Becky
It has taken me some time to figure out what to say. Your Mom was a friend and neighbour and always a many have described her so beautifully and that is how she will be remembered. And memorable she is!
Her love for each of You was such a Mother’s Love.
A life well lived and full of challenges which she showed us how to face with spirit and sensibility.
I will miss her and find solace in the telling of so many memories.
Take good care
Brenda & Steve

Barb was a great neighbour that shared a lot of laughs. She visited our home many Friday nights to play Scrabble and cards with Evelyn and would share stories, laughs, and wine and cheese with both of us. Many fond memories. Rest in peace Barb, thank you for your friendship. Doug

Dear Becky and Dave-you must know how special your mum was to me and how sorry I am for your loss. From the earliest days of our friendship teaching together at Earnscliffe Public School, to sumptuous dinners around her table, and hours yakking on the phone, I will always cherish my memories of your mum. Barb was brilliant, funny, witty, imaginative, courageous, brutally honest, and one of the bravest people I have ever met. She was an incredible teacher and wonderful, supportive colleague; she was a loyal and compassionate friend who always had a witty comeback or wry observation doled out with her generous and timely advice . Her passing has left a deep void in our lives but I have so many delightful memories of all the lovely stories of Bec, David, Jack, her family, diverse friends from all walks of life and her many crazy adventures. You know she was deeply loved and I hope this brings a little comfort. All our love, Parrish and Mike.

Dear Rebecca, Dave & all your family.
Our condolences to all of you on Barbs passing.
As my older cousin I was in awe of her at all the family reunions. She exuded such confidence and she had so many jokes! As years passed, you could always find Barb entertaining a group with a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other! She did things her way. Her emails the last couple of years were always witty and informative ....she will be missed.... Rest In Peace Barb. The Watt Girls.....

Our deepest condolences on the loss of your mother Rebecca and David. Bob and I only met her a few times, but we just adored her. She had an amazing sense of humour and a great energy, intelligence and "spunk"! It was plain to see how much she adored you both.

Our sincerest sympathies.

We are truly blessed to call Barb an amazing friend and neighbour for over 30 years. I'm sure Barb could advise the exact day with a funny story. No doubt over wine, cheese, and Scrabble, and cards. It was through teaching with my Mom, Evelyn Howard, that we met. She always had great stories, lots of laughs, and fun times to share. I always cherished our scrabble games on her swivel board. It was an honour if she had to look up one of my words in her book as Barb was one of the smartest ladies I've known and knew every word. I have soooo many fond memories of Barb, always with fun and laughs. She could wrap the most beautiful Christmas present and write the nicest cards. She knew gems, dance, baking, music, the list is endless. She was a gift and she is truly missed!
Barb and David, your Mom was very proud of you. Stay strong and hold on to the wonderful memories you all made.

My sincere sympathy to David and Beck on the loss of your dear mother. Barb and I were good friends for many years and we shared many laughs and happy times together. For the past few years we shared a similar problem and spent a lot of time learning from each other how to cope. I will miss her every day.

Becky and David,
My sincerest condolences. Your mother was a great spirit who influenced not only the students in her care but the staff she worked with too. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years at Earnscliffe. Her energy was contagious and her wisdom and wit unmatched. She will be long remembered by many.
