Doug was born in England to Francis and Gladys Cooke. He emigrated to Canada with his wife and 4 children in 1965. The family was complete in a few years later with the addition of the youngest son.
Doug had a keen sense of humour and quick wit. He was never one to pass up a chance to be heard, enjoying a good argument and voicing his opinion. He had an amazing artistic ability. Whether he was
sketching quick comical caricatures of his kids and workmates, or creating beautiful detailed portraits of people and pets, Doug's artwork was always admired.
As a self-proclaimed "Jack of all Trades", Doug would happily fix and repair anything around his home, or any of his kids' homes. He enjoyed his family and being able to help out. Doug has always been a soccer fan.
He played the game in his youth, and continued to enjoy it as a spectator later on.
Doug liked a wide variety of music from Al Jolson, Frank Sinatra and Max Bygraves to the Beatles, ABBA and John Denver - he appreciated a good beat and a good singing voice.
He will be missed.
Sad that he is gone, but grateful he is free of pain.
