We are lucky enough to have known Doug for many years. We became friends while coaching softball and hockey together. Our families spent many weekends travelling to tournaments around Ontario. Those were good times. We will miss our dinners out and bumping into you and Lynda at the grocery store. Doug was a wonderful man. We will miss him.

With my deepest sympathy to the White family!  I had the pleasure of working with Doug at Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School over a very short period.  However, from the start, he presented himself with such majestic poise.  He was a " gentle giant" who cared deeply for his students, colleagues, and the teaching profession. I especially enjoyed his signature greeting ... " his big beautiful smile." So, may the memory of his "BIG" smile warm you like the sun, and his laughter echo in your soul, and the best memories of him enrich your days ahead.  With my deepest sympathy to the family.

Doug was a master teacher who never was shy to take on the most challenging students in challenging life situations. He was a great example and inspirational mentor. His generosity of making time for encouraging conversations nurtured my enthusiasm and passion for teaching. I am not just a better teacher because of him, but a better person. One of the conversations we had, he said, "... approach everything with integrity, mix it with compassion, and never compromise on excellence." A big man, with a big heart, with big effect on the world around him.

Douglas was a "Very Gentle Man" and he will be truly missed by all who knew him at 40 Westmore. His loss was felt acutely by our entire dental family having known him for over 30 years,. Please accept our deepest and sincerest condolences. We will miss him.

Doug was one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, a kind and gentle man with a wonderful personality.  I used to refer to him as "the gentle giant" when he was kind enough to help me coach hockey  for a number of years.
