Eva Florence Burke, 86, of Brampton, passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side at Brampton Civic Hospital on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Angus Burke (2018). Eva will be lovingly remembered by her children, Karen & (Albert), Wayne & (Angela) and grandchildren, Shannon and Chelsea.
She was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Emma AuCoin ( nee Le Blanc). Besides her parents Eva is predeceased by her sister Margaret, Oshawa, Ontario and son-in-law Chuck, Brampton, Ontario. Eva is survived by brother Clarence, Belleville, Ontario and sisters; Anita, Barss Corner, Nova Scotia and Pauline, Waltham, Ma.
Eva was born on August 11, 1938 and raised in Terre Noire, Nova Scotia. Eva bravely moved to Toronto at the age of 17. Here she forged friendships that lasted a lifetime!
One of her favourite social activities was going to Cape Breton dances, she loved music and loved to dance! It was at one of these dances that she met Angus… and the rest was history… they later married and eventually moved to Bramalea to raise their family. After raising her own children Eva retired early and so that she could spend more time with her grandchildren.
Eva’s love for family and friends was genuine; she loved spending time with them, she loved to laugh and have fun. Eva’s home was the gathering place, whether you were dropping in for a quick visit or staying for an extended period, you were always welcomed, always well fed and your tea cup was never empty! Besides Eva’s love of music and dancing, she loved playing cards, especially euchre and she didn’t mind putting a wager here and there. A favourite memory of many if not all who played with Eva, was the term she coined for a euchre, “Euchie, Euchie, Euchie”. Eva was a good sport and loved the camaraderie. Eva will be truly missed by all that knew her: Please take comfort in all of the wonderful memories.
