Jim will be deeply missed by his loving family. Husband of almost 63 years to Valerie, father to son Ken (Brenda), daughter Laurie, and daughter Jane (Brian) who passed away in 2017. The best Gpa to granddaughters Lindsay (Christian], Taylor (Hani & boys Michael and Raphael) and Maegan (Rebecca), and favourite companion to his two furry pets Molly & Maisie.
Jim was born and raised in Downsview, Ontario to Sam & Vera Pollock along with his 4 siblings Bill (Lorraine), Marilyn, Don (Lorraine), and Dennis. Loved by his nieces and nephews, David (Jenny), Danny (Josie), Jodi (John), Donnie, Heather and all their families.
A cherished son-in-law to May (predeceased by John Lindsay) (and Reg Blakeley) and uncle to the Lindsay family; Stuart (Tanya), Craig (Sarah), Kim (Chris), Mike (Marissa) and their families.
He worked for a time along with his whole family at DeHavilland Aircraft which instilled his love of flying. He took flying lessons when he was young but his story always was that he couldn’t afford it anymore after he met Val!
In 1967 he bought his first and only home in Bramalea to be close to his job at Northern Electric (Telecom) where he worked for over 30 years until retirement at age 55. He took great pride in the fact that he continually received awards from Northern for years of perfect attendance.
Many wonderful vacations followed especially the numerous ones in an RV with Val and his 3 granddaughters. Yearly trips to Florida when the family would always come down to stay were another highlight.
Jim’s love of baseball led to him playing softball on Northern Telecom’s team as well as every summer Sunday for many years playing in the Brampton Men’s Mushball league, and for the last few years of playing it was with his great pleasure that Ken joined the team and played along side of his Dad.
In his later years his favourite pastimes became puttering in the yard and sitting (and snoozing) on the deck he built.
He led a happy and content life, raised a wonderful family, and will be missed deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the family home at a later date.
