James Mathew Rice

Born in Dublin, Ireland on May 22, 1934 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 1, 2014 at Brampton Civic Hospital in his 80th year. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years Catherine and his sons James (Tracey) and Sean (Darlene) and daughter Sharon (Brian). He remains a beloved Grandad to Caile, Liam, Owen, Margaret, Clare, Katie, Nathen and Joshua. Predeceased by his parents James and Sarah and brother Desie. Survived by his brothers Bobby, Noel and Paddy and sisters Esther and Patty. He will be fondly remembered by his relatives and friends in Ireland.

Jimmy and Kay immigrated to Canada after their wedding in 1963 and eventually settled in Brampton to raise their family. Jimmy worked hard all of his life to provide for his family. He opened his home to many family members as they followed him from Ireland and needed help getting started in their new country.

Visitation will be held at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton (North of Steeles) on Friday, December 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, December 6 at 10am at St. John Fisher Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the A.L.S. Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
