My sincere condolences.  Jesse was kind, supportive, funny and empathetic. We schooled at Sheridan Park Elementary and Clarkson SS. We both lived off of Council Ring in the 80s. I remember he had a Dalmation named Toby and wore neon green and black goalie pads when we played on the Erindale Iroquois together, coached by Charlie Walsh. In grade 4 we tried to submit our own last names as words for a group spelling B, Mme Harris would have none of those shenanigans. In high school he canoed and I always revelled that one shoulder was significantly larger than the other from the training. He also had a one of kind fadeaway jump shot playing basketball. He will be missed but not forgotten. Sympathies to his family and community.

Mr. Sturgeon was a blessing to all those he spoke with. On many occasions while attending Jean Augustine S.S I would sit and vent to him about all the useless things a teenager could care about and everytime he had a wise piece of advice to give me. More often then not it was that my parents loved me regardless the situation. After many conversations, I told him about my mental health. Not only was he understanding. He listened with no judgement. He would always stop to see how everyone was doing in the halls, and if he was speaking with your teacher, he would step away after and see how you were doing as well. He was a very kind and caring soul. Who will be missed very very dearly. My condolences to the family  

Having the opportunity to know Mr.Sturgeon through Jean Augustine SS. Is something that I am so honoured to be able to say. Jesse Sturgeon as a counselor was a life changer and I am forever grateful for all that he’s done for me and so many other of my peers. His sweet, kind and caring spirit is something unforgettable and will be cherished forever. Jesse Sturgeon got me out of some of the toughest places in my life, he was SO good at all that he did and my heart goes out to his family and friends. I loved hearing him speak about his wife and daughters with so much adoration, his spirit was truly so bright. Jesse Sturgeon saved and changed lives and his memory will forever live on. Thank you Mr.Sturgeon for everything, I will take your advice and words of wisdom with me everywhere I go. My condolences.

It was a honour and privilege to teach and serve students alongside Jesse. I learned so much from him. Such great memories of Jesse in his blue sweater and glasses; he dedicated so much of his time coaching and working with students outside of the classroom. We shared so many laughs, tears, and excitement (Jesse style).  He was a wonderful human being who dug deep to find the 'wonderful' in all those around him. 

Jesse was such a kind soul.  He was so helpful to students and treated them very kindly.  Jesse would work with students to help them get their credits, advocate for them and was always respectful to them.  We missed him when he left Lincoln Alexander Secondary School.  When we first started our Mental Health awareness presentations, he would go to classes and have heartfelt conversations with students about the topic.    Outside of his teaching role, he was not afraid to be vulnerable and was quite supportive of the adults also.  Condolences to his dear wife and daughters.  I pray for your comfort in this very difficult time.  True he is gone too soon, but he left behind a legacy of love, compassion and kindness. 

My sincerest condolences for Hetal, my current students Adrian and Marlowe, and all other family members and friends at this time. You have my deepest sympathy. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

I never had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Sturgeon, but many of my peers at Jean Augustine have talked about him and I feel honoured to have heard about him, at the very least. "There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even when they are gone." Mr. Sturgeon was one of those people, and he will forever have a place in our hearts. I offer my deepest condolences to his family; we are all so sorry for your loss and we hope you know that you have our support. May Jesse Sturgeon rest well in peace and with grace, and may he shine down on us like he always has.

I went to Jean Augustine 6 years ago. Although I didn't know Mr. Sturgeon personally and I don't think he knew me either, I would always see him around the school with a big smile on his face, full of energy and always having conversations with other staff and students. He would sometimes come to a few of my classes and make announcements. He was one of the only cool, friendly faces I remember during my time at Jean a few years ago. My younger sibling goes there and I found out about the heartbreaking news and couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sadness hearing about it. 

Rest in Peace Mr. Sturgeon, thank you for being a cool, compassionate teacher as lots of students admired you for being one of the best teachers to ever work at Jean.  You will be missed dearly.

Mr. Sturgeon has been very helpful to me during my son’s transition to Jean Augustine SS.  He’s very kind and very accommodating.  He has supported my son throughout his high school years.
