Dear family ,
I remember Aunt Lucy very well! I met Peggy once and her sister Audrey.
My mother Lillian is the only daughter of Aunt Lucy's sister Henrietta or aunt Min as she was called. Dear Peggy will be remembered by my 94 year old mother. She and Peggy and Audrey exchanged letters through the years. My Mom is the last one standing in her family. 
You were forever Blessed having Peggy in your family.
May you find comfort in your memories of her.

Please accept our belated condolences on Peggy’s passing.   We met Peggy on a tour of Greenway and appreciated her spunk and wry humor.    As it turns out, my parents became dining companions with Peggy and Gabriel.    My mother, Yuko Okumura enjoyed Peggy’s friendship and is very sad to hear that she has passed.    

I will always remember how much our family meant to my mother-in-law, Peggy.  She was fiercely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  We all felt that.  

She was also a proud and devoted navy wife, capable of holding down the family fort in Halifax while my father-in-law, Bill, was away at sea every spring.   She learned to be tough, independent, and resourceful....or perhaps the life of a navy wife brought out these innate qualities.

When I met and eventually married Drew, Mom welcomed me with open arms.  Throughout the years she never intended to replace my own mother, but was there for me knowing that I lived far away from my own Mother.  She must of understood because she too lived far away from her own mother for so many years.  She simply gave me unconditional love and acceptance with absolutely no strings attached. 

I learned many things from Mom, like how to make a good pie crust, meatloaf, fruitcake, the art of flower arranging, quilting, and the magic of 4pm "tea time" with fancy china, to name just a few.  But the most important lessons she taught were indirect....she lead by example on how to be a kind and decent mother-in-law who does not overly interfere, knew how to respect and accept the decisions we made even if she had an opinion, and to never be subtle in letting us know how to she so enjoyed her family times, especially when we gathered in Lion's Head, definitely Mom's and my happy place too.  I hope to always live up to her examples with my children and their families. 

It will be hard to imagine my life without Mom in it because she has been such an important part of mine for 51 years.  Drew and I and our entire family are so blessed to have had her for so long.  She has left a lasting memory for all of us.  

My heart is at peace, because I believe she is at peace.

Mom, may the Lord watch between me and thee, while we are absent, one from the other.

She was tough, feisty and fiercely proud of who she was and where she came from. She also had no filter as my cousin's have reminded me from our group chat today 🤣.  Grandmother has now been reunited with Grandfather who passed 8 1/2 years ago.  After he passed, she wrote in the cottage guestbook that she felt as though she was standing on a pier waiting for his ship to come in but knowing it was not going to arrive.  I draw comfort knowing she was wrong, his ship did come in at last. But only as a short stop so he could step onto the pier and collect her for their voyage amongst the heavens. Fair winds and following seas Grandmother (GG to Josh and Ella). Your legacy and devotion to family will live on in your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren! You are loved, you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten. In your own words: "Night god bless!"
