A wonderful wife to Rev. Grant Johnston; beloved mother of Michelle (Keith Young), Angela (Tim Ansems), Nadine; and dearly loved grandmother of Caelin, Russell, Tobi, and Keira. Born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Clarence and Lillian (Ward) MacGregor. She is survived by her twin brother, Glenn, brothers James and Sandy, her sister, Janet, and numerous nieces and nephews who looked to Sheila as a mentor and role model. Sheila grew up on a farm in Brookville, Nova Scotia and attended MacLellan’s Brook School and East Pictou Rural High School. She graduated from the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College and the University of Alberta. She found her calling in life and became a dedicated teacher of students with special needs at Parkholme School and at Greenbriar Middle School in Brampton, Ontario. She was a determined advocate of students with special needs and was generous with her time in supporting her colleagues. Sheila was also a faithful member of North Bramalea Presbyterian Church. If desired, memorial donations can be made to North Bramalea Presbyterian Church (Brampton, Ontario), St. John’s Presbyterian Church (Pictou County, Nova Scotia), or to a charity of one’s choice.
